The ‘Hi-de-Hi!’ legend , who passed away in December aged 79 following a fall, joined the cast to play Rosie Colbert in the BBC spin-off of ‘Death in Paradise’ which was filmed months before her death.

Modoc’s daughter Lowri reflected on her mother’s final moments of her life claiming that Ruth was in overjoyed whilst filming her very last role.

Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper's Hot TV column, she said: “My mum thoroughly enjoyed working on this, her last TV role.

“She told me how wonderful the entire cast and crew were and what a delightful experience it had been. She took great pride in this job, as she always did with every job.

“I find it brings me great comfort to watch her onscreen.”

Most recently, BBC One confirmed the release date for the highly anticipated spin-off that’s set to air on February 24.

Kris Marshall will reprise his role as DI Humphrey Goodman in the BBC detective drama. The show will focus on the story of what happened to Humphrey after he fell in love with tourist Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) and left the fictional Lesser Antilles island of Saint Marie to move to the British countryside with her.

Speaking previously about reprising his role, Kris said: “I had the best time playing Humphrey out in Guadeloupe and whilst I was delighted that he got his happy ending with Martha, I always wanted to know what happened next.

“So it’s a joy to be putting his crumpled jacket back on and seeing how life has panned out for him back in the UK.

“Working with Sally is a dream, and I can’t wait to continue Humphrey and Martha’s story and solve a few seemingly impossible mysteries along the way.”
