After our report yesterday that Lucy Lawless was all for a revival of hit cult television series Xena: Warrior Princess comes the news that the show has a reboot in the works at NBC.

Originally a spinoff of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, the show aired for six years finishing in 2001 and made a star out of its lead actress.

Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi - the creator/writer/director/producer and executive producer of the original series respectively are now also involved in the "modern reboot", but it's unclear whether Lawless will be back in any role at all.

The Hollywood Report says that the new Xena is going to have to have "the charisma and charm of Lawless and the smarts of The Hunger Games' Katniss as producers are said to be looking for a sophisticated and smart superhero for a new generation."

With the show still in the planning stages there's no promising it'll make it to the later stages and ever broadcast, but with some of the original crew on board it would hurt to hear about this just to never see it come to fruition.
