Gail (Helen Worth) arrives back home to find dishevelled David (Jack P Shepherd) still in his clothes from the previous night. As she interrogates her son, he continues to maintain his innocence. However, when Gail gives him one last chance to own up she's horrified when an emotional David finally cracks and admits he pushed her and left her for dead. David demands that she phone the police and put him out of his misery, but she refuses until he explains why he did it. David tries to stay calm but but Gail is relentless and tells him it doesn’t matter if he calls the police because she’ll just tell them she can’t remember what happened and they won't be able to prosecute. Desperate, David storms out of the house full of anger and self-loathing, and unleashes his fury on the street. When the loss assessor tells Paul (Tom Hudson) and Leanne (Jane Danson) that the investigation could take months, Paul's livid that he could be penniless for months and hisses that arson is starting to look like a stupid idea. Leanne asserts she didn't force him to do it and Paul's hurt when she calls him pathetic. As they continue to bicker, Dan (Mathew Crompton) overhears and suggests they shut up before they give the game away. Will they get their money? Or will they get caught out? Darryl (Jonathan Dixon) is gutted when Lauren (Lucy Evans) dumps him after he refuses to steal money form his dad to pay for her rent. Elsewhere, Michelle (Kym Ryder) is delighted when Alex (Dario Coates) turns up at the pub to see her. Meanwhile, Liz (Beverley Callard) revokes Vernon's (Ian Reddington) title as project manager when he fails to find a new builder to finish the smoking shelter.

Everyone watches on astonished as an enraged David (Jack P Shepherd) causes chaos on the street. He's hell bent on self-destruction and determined to get sent down. Will he succeed? What state will the street be in when he's finished?Lauren (Lucy Evans) asks Steve (Simon Gregson) for an advance on her wages, claiming she’s desperate to pay Eileen (Sue Cleaver) some rent. Taking pity, Steve hands her a bundle of notes. Sean (Antony Cotton) is upset that he can't go out with Marcus (Charlie Condou) because he has to cover Lauren's shift - she's ill. However, when Marcus reveals he saw her shopping earlier - he's furious. How long will Sean continue to be manipulated by Lauren?

In the bookies, Leanne (Jane Danson) tries to persuade Dan (Matthew Crompton) to give her a job. Deliberately cheeky, she remembers Dan saying the bookies was his so Harry’s (Jack Ellis) opinion shouldn’t count. Elsewhere, Roy (David Neilson) is concerned when he finds some bat droppings on the ground in the building site, and Becky (Katherine Kelly) thinks he's mad when he suggests the building site should be shut down as bats are a protected species.

Wednesday 9 April 7.30pm

David (Jack P Shepherd) has spent the night in a prison cell and and as he's questioned about his rampage by two police officers, he admits it was deliberate and is eerily calm as he admits to everything he’s done. Audrey (Sue Nicholls) is stunned when Gail (Helen Worth) refuses to testify against him. He's charged with multiple counts of criminal damage and assault and is bailed to appear before the magistrates.

As they arrive home Gail again asks why he did what he did and David confesses to all the evil things he’s done in the past. Gail's stunned and when David claims he feels like everyone's against him and he can't promise his behaviour will improve, she's at a loss as to what to do. Gail adamant they sort their problems out privately but David is determined to go to court. Will David and Gail be able to start afresh? Will David’s get sent down?

Becky (Katherine Kelly) is flirting with builder Rick (Phill Corbitt) in the café and asks him to come over to the flat that night while Roy's at a Railway convention. However, when Roy (David Neilson) returns early to find Becky and her man in his flat he’s not impressed and infuriates Becky when he makes is disapproval known.

Roy (David Neilson) expresses his concern about bats roosting in the new flats and Bill (Peter Armitage) realises that it could mean serious trouble for their business if the site is closed for months. Tony (Gray O'Brien) tells Jason (Ryan Thomas) and Bill (Peter Armitage) that if they don’t sort the problem they can say goodbye to their contracts. Will they risk breaking the law to save their business?
