Corrie's Fiz devastated by Hayley's death

'Coronation Street's Fiz Stape is "angry" with Hayley Cropper for committing suicide in a recent storyline.

The grieving soap character - played by Jennie McAlpine - will lash out at Hayley's widower Roy Cropper (David Neilson) this week after discovering the Weatherfield favourite (played by Julie Hesmondhalgh) ingested poison to kill herself following a battle with inoperable pancreatic cancer.

Jennie told Inside Soap magazine: "When she finds out that Hayley did take her own life, she's really angry. Fiz is quite selfish in the way she reacts and behaves. It's very distressing for Roy, because it's unusual for the two of them to argue.

"Roy asks what Fiz would have done differently, and she says she would have been able to stop Hayley. She takes out her anger on Roy, but really she's angry with Hayley."

Despite struggling to wrap her head around Hayley's decision, Fiz must stay strong for Roy after promising Hayley she would look after him before her death.

Jennie added: "Close families and loved ones do fall out and they're not going to agree on everything. Roy is full of regret too, so the last thing he needs is Fiz having a go at him. He's angry enough with himself."
