Another day jam-packed full of some of the most exciting television has come around this Boxing Day, and so we've picked out three you absolutely must not miss if you're hoping to enjoy your time in front of the small screen.

The Boy in the Dress (6.55pm, BBC One)

Adapted from David Walliams' children's book of the same name, this family comedy tells the story of 12-year-old Dennis, a very ordinary boy who lives in an ordinary town, but somehow feels different from all of those around him. Being introduced to a whole new world of creativity by catching sight of something in a fashion magazine, he realises his passion for dressing up, but what will his football team friends, father and headmaster think if they find out about his passion? Billy Kennedy plays Dennis with a supporting cast that includes Walliams himself, Jennifer Saunders, Meera Syal and Steve Speirs, as well as a cameo appearance by supermodel Kate Moss.

Bear's Wild Weekend with Ben Stiller (8pm, Channel 4)

Partnered with actor and director Ben Stiller, survivalist expert Bear Grylls and the Hollywood legend have to team-up for a two-day action-filled trek, pushing both of them to their physical and mental limits. Bear's keen to find out just if Ben can handle a trip into the wilds of Scotland, and so the journey begins on the shors of Loch Harport. As it progresses, the duo have to rope themselves together to get over a ragget set of rock cliffs, seek shelter and somewhere to rest, as well as descending into the darkness of a vast cave in hopes of finding some fresh water. Will the pair be able to survive the whole journey?

In the first episode of the brand new series, the hit sitcom returns with a festive special. Dorien was broke back in January, but now things have changed and the erotic novelist is splashing out on taking the gang to the Canary Islands for a Christmas trip. However, Sharon's hopes for adventure, Tracey's fear of flying and Dorien's eagerness to find a willing partner, things are never going to be plain sailing with this trio. Linda Robson, Pauline Quirke and Lesley Joseph all star.
