Aggie MacKenzie has teamed up with Sainbury’s to show us how to make the most of our food and save it from going to waste! Aggie MacKenzie is encouraging us all to think before we throw and in this video she is showing us how to make some delicious recipes using the leftovers from our Sunday roasts! As many families across the UK tighten their belts for a budget conscious 2013, research by Mintel and WRAP, in partnership with Sainsbury’s, reveals that over seven in 10 households are still throwing away food unnecessarily. The research shows that families spend an average of £85 each week on groceries, but despite recent tough times and savvier shopping, throw away 15 per cent of this, according to WRAP. Three in 10 households attributed their food waste to cooking too much food at mealtimes and throwing away the leftovers. The research also shows that 49 per cent of families spend more time preparing the Sunday Roast than any other meal in the week. Given this, it is all the more surprising that large amounts of this these foods are thrown away. So be conscious of what you’re buy, cooking and eating and instead of throwing away leftovers, use them to cook up a storm in the kitchen and make some super tasty meals!
