Y asks :

Hello Lucy,

I have been dating this guy for a while now. He is really great but has recently complained of me sending predictable, somewhat boring texts to his phone. How do I write romantic original texts to my boyfriend that will leave him smiling from ear to ear? Please help

Hi Y,

Some men like it when women play hard to get so why not hold off on the text messages and wait for him to text you? If he sets the tone of the message then you might be able to glean what he wants from an answer.

Pull up a joke from your computer and post that to him on his Facebook page perhaps- guys often like it when a girl make them laugh with something silly, so a joke or funny picture might just be the ticket.

Have you tried sexting? A lot of guys like messages about what their partner is wearing, what they will do to them later or how thinking about him makes them feel. There is nothing like a bit of sexual banter to get you both through a working day! Plus the excitement can build to some memorable sex sessions when you get home.

It might be wise to build up to these. If he only expects what he deems to be ‘boring’ texts from you then jumping right in with a sext could scare him off.

Lots of really romantic texts might be the opposite of what he wants as men on the whole don’t like texts that are too soppy but the odd loving comment shouldn’t do you any harm.

Perhps try to think of it in monetary terms and how much each text is costing you- so you have to make each one count for your spend!
