Losing a piece of me

Bit by bit

Not knowing, without realizing it

Their smiles and promises that caught my eyes

Their personality was fake, everything was a lie

Every touch was pure venom

Their professional strategy was aimed at drowning my dreams

That if which I hold so dear

Hoping the next one would be for real

The reason for endless foolish deceit

Holding on, hoping, and trying to believe

Losing a piece of me

Bit by bit

Time to let go

No time to relive it

Tinted by their darkness

Covering my heart with their filthy footprints as they leave

Becoming something I don’t want to be

I look a reflection I see, hurt, despair, the look of disgust

And a heart over used

They never cared, they were always amused

Losing a piece of me

Bit by bit

Falling for the same trick

Stuck in a dark tunnel with a lamp unlit

Awaiting for the light to help put the pieces back together

Will it be true this time or just another trickster?
