What will you be choosing to snack on?

What will you be choosing to snack on?

Britons will officially ditch their healthy regimes today as the Christmas festivities officially start, with the average person consuming an extra 380 calories per day.  The ‘feast before the fast’ mindset officially kicks in at this time of year, with the ‘new year will be the start of the new me’ thought process overtaking all sense of a balanced lifestyle.

Britons will consume on average 400 extra calories per day by drinking an extra two small glasses of wine and having at least one ‘treat’ each day, as they get into the swing of Christmas

The workplace has been found to be the main cause of piling on the pounds in December with workers attending at least one workplace Christmas feast not to mention countless client dinners and drinks.

Whereas many strive to be good for 11 months of the year, the feast before the fast has always been the case during December when it becomes a diet free zone ahead of the January rush for weight-loss.

Mandy Cassidy, Psychotherapist for the LighterLife says: “Food is often associated with celebrations and t’s used socially to bring people together but in particular in December, the feast before the fast mentality takes over all sensible thinking.  It’s Christmas and traditionally the diet always starts in January, but this is where the yo-yo diet cycle begins and will never end.

"At LighterLife we know that it’s not just what goes into your mouth but what goes on in your head that really matters and using these excuses is often what leads people to gain weight. We hope that people will be able to make the right choices in 2013 when they embark upon their weight-loss and ditch the diet cycle for good.”

Have you given up on the diet already?
