Are you trying to lose weight?

Women go on twice as many diets during their lives as they have lovers, according to new research.

They diet an average of 16 times, whilst the typical woman has eight lovers in her life says the new study of 15,000 adults.

It found that women typically first start dieting at 17 – when they stop growing and putting on weight becomes more of a problem.

The average diets lasts for a month and the average weight loss is between 5lbs and 7lbs.

More than a quarter of women find it impossible to stick with diets and give up after a week, with the main reason being willpower, followed by boredom and then a lapse after a night out with friends.

Lee Smith managing director of Forza Supplements, who conducted the research, managing director said:  "The fact that the typical British woman has twice as many diets as she has lovers suggests that staying slim is a daily battle for millions of women.

"It's great to see that women still overwhelmingly believe that diets work and can bring about a lifestyle change.

"The truth is that if you do knuckle down you can get the body you desire.

"At Forza, most of our clients are women in their 30s who are married or in settled relationships. They are comfortable with their partner and have allowed their weight to creep up."

Most women carry on calorie counting even after losing their target weight. By far the most popular reason for dieting is unhappiness with body shape, chosen by half of those polled.

The second most popular reason was a desire to feel sexier, followed by getting in shape for a summer holiday. Just 1% said they dieted to please their partner.

Women firmly believe that diets are an effective way of losing weight - with 71% saying they DO work. And half of respondents said they had made permanent lifestyle changes - eliminating unhealthy food and drinks - after going on a diet.

Women will typically go on diets at least four times in their 20s and a further five times in their thirties and six times in their forties.

Celebrity Big Brother star Sam Faiers, 23, lost almost two stones after splitting with long-term lover Joey Essex with help from Forza's Raspberry K2 capsules. She said the 'comfort' of being with Joey made her put on weight.

Other celebrities who have used their capsules to lose weight include Made In Chelsea's Spencer Matthews and Binky Felstead.
The capsules are sold by Costco, Harrods, Amazon, Superdrug and Ocado and are due to be stocked in Boots, Tesco and Sainsburys later this year.
