Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders

The rumour mill has been churning out talk of the Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders affair going on for months, but through all this not one of them told their partner of their infidelity until the truth was uncovered last week by Us Weekly magazine.

Out of the two thirds of Briton’s that admitted to cheating, MyVoucherCodes.co.uk found that 88 per cent felt guilty about what they had done. Out of those, 32 per cent felt so guilty that they came clean to their partner about their cheating.

Unfortunately, the majority of people, 43 per cent, said that they had never told their partner about their affair.

Eight per cent of cheaters claimed to have been caught in the act and, like Kristen and Rupert, 17 per cent said that they only admitted to their infidelity because they had been caught out.

If you’re going to have an affair then be prepared to lose your partner, 67 per cent of those who cheated were no longer with their partner, with 37 per cent saying that their partner broke it off after finding out about their infidelity.

Shockingly, 14 per cent left their partner to be with the person they cheated with but only 13 per cent of them were still romantically involved with the person they left their partner for.

Out of the total number of respondents, 52 per cent said that they had been cheated on. It seems that Brits are relatively forgiving as only 59 per cent of these people said they had ended the relationship because of their partner’s infidelity.

Mark Pearson, Chairman of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, said, “Twilight has such a large fan following, and it was obvious that the news of the lead star’s infidelity was going to upset a lot of loyal fans.

“We wanted to conduct this research to discover if infidelity was as common amongst the public as it seems to be in the world of celebrity.

“I was surprised to see the amount of people that have been unfaithful to their partner; however, I was even more shocked to see that 43% had never even told their partner about infidelity.

“Without doubt, cheating is never good, and it’s always better to break it off than stay with someone you’re unhappy with. As for Kirsten Stewart- I guess this news adds further fire to the idea that a happy celebrity relationship is hard to find!”

Would you tell your partner if you cheated, or would you take your chances and wait to see if you were found out?
