Fitting in with National Text Your Ex day, new research has found that nearly half of women are revisiting sex with their ex when they’re on the dating scene.

The main reason for going back to an ex was due to the lack of physical intimacy when single, with 42 per cent of women feeling this way.
For a further 31 per cent of women, it was the idea that they wanted to get back with their ex that drove them to sleep with them.
It’s not just women though, 47 per cent of men admitted to sleeping with their ex with 59 per cent saying it was because they were lacking physical intimacy.
Compared to women’s 31 per cent, only 28 of men said they slept with an ex in hope of getting back with them.
Twenty six per cent of women and 27 per cent of men said that it was alcohol that fuelled their rendezvous.
Facebook and email were to blame for 22 per cent of women and 19 per cent of men, and 15 per cent of women and 19 per cent of men said they had bumped into each other on a night out and thought it a good idea.
Nikki Howarth, member of SeekingArrangment.com, the site which conducted the research, admitted to sleeping with an ex.
She said, “It’s something most girls have done. They say, ‘Never go back’ but it can be difficult when you have been very close to a guy and you are struggling to find someone new.
“I have sometimes regretted doing it in the past – particularly when I have been keener on the guy than he was on me.
“Sleeping with them again just leads to more heartache – because there is no chance of the relationship working out in the long-term and you are just left to reflect on what you have lost.”
Nikki does believe, however, that if both parties want the same thing that revisiting a past relationship can work.
She said, “If no one is getting hurt on either side, I don’t see what is wrong with ‘sex with the ex’. It can be a lot of fun - who doesn’t want a bit of physical intimacy when they have been single for a while.
“You often go to the same pubs and clubs as your ex because that is where you met in the first place. If you part amicably there is no reason why you shouldn’t both end up going to the same places again.
“That’s when can end up in bed again after a night out – the beer goggles have a lot to do with it!”
