The Summer festivities are drawing to an end and many people will be turning their attentions to online dating again in the run up to Christmas. Here are some tips from match.com’s relationship expert Kate Taylor to make sure you stay safe:

  • "If you get the feeling that someone you’ve met on the site isn’t who they say they are, don’t panic. Just click the ‘report a concern’ button, and the match.com team will look into it straight away
  • If someone asks you for money then alarm bells should start ringing. You wouldn’t ever give money to someone you’ve met in a bar, so why should this be any different!
  • Don’t feel pressurised to meet up straight away. Wait until you feel completely comfortable before arranging a date
  • Once you are ready to meet, make sure you suggest a venue, tell a friend where you’re going and meet in a public place
  • Most importantly trust your instincts and you will be sure to have a great date”
