Some women aren't prepared to wait for their men to get down on bended knee

A new survey has revealed that women aren't prepared to wait for their man to get down on a bended knee, but take on the job themselves.

The national survey has shown that a surprising number of British women have proposed to their fiancés and husbands.

John Greed Jewellery surveyed 1,000 of its customers and found that women are getting bolder when it comes to proposing.

Just over 20 per cent of women surveyed declared that they were the ones who popped the all-important question.  The survey also revealed that 72 per cent of women had also pressured their boyfriends into proposing – spouting questions such as ‘are you ever going to marry me?’ and ‘don’t you think now would be the right time to propose?’.

It appears that busy career-driven women don’t have time to wait around for their prospective spouse to propose. And instead prefer to expel tradition and take the future into their own hands. Whatever happened to chivalry?!

The survey revealed that women in Birmingham are the most likely to propose, with 38 per cent of women proposing and 84 per cent admitting to putting pressure on their other half. However in Exeter and Liverpool the results were staggeringly less – with 11 per cent of women in Exeter and a tiny 5 per cent of women in Liverpool getting on one knee.

And ladies, you might be a little stunned to learn that if you did leave it to the guys to propose – a shocking 37 per cent of men spend over £5000 on the engagement ring.

And be careful ladies because some of our men surveyed said that they would not like to be proposed to – citing ‘emasculating’ as their main concern.  On the other hand, around a quarter of men admitted that being proposed to was a ‘huge turn on’.

So ladies, whatever your proposing style – whether it’s popping the question yourself, dropping huge hints or waiting ever so patiently, be sure to do it WITH style!
