Valentine's Day on Female First

Valentine's Day on Female First

Try not to let Valentine's Day freak you out; you are far from alone on this matter. Think positive, Valentine's Day is not like a solar eclipse, there'll be another one in 12 months' time so think of this as your Valentine's gap year! Take this year off, enjoy a night of doing exactly what you want, and feel good.

Don't run around trying to find someone, anyone, to spend Valentine's night with...this is just one of day of the year and not the end or Prom night. Who really cares if you don't go hell for leather on a card other than Clintons?

Enjoy the fact that you are not being told by a restaurant what to eat from a set menu, that the bill will be triple of what it was the night before, and you'll have exactly 90 minutes to gaze adoringly into your guest's eyes before the restaurant want the table for a second sitting.

Get together with a few single friends and go to the cinema. Lose yourself for a few hours while the rest of the world goes bananas for wilting roses and warm chocolates.

You'll find lots of local pubs have non Valentine's nights. Get a bunch of friends together and get involved. The fact it's Valentine's night will be lost at the door and you'll have a great evening in a non-pressure environment.

Try not to fixate on it being a day for romance and see it as a day you can participate in if you want to. Think about it...have you had pancakes EVERY Shrove Tuesday? Or let off fireworks EVERY Guy Fawkes night? This is just another one of those days that's not compulsory for everyone to be a part of. Treat it just like any other day of the year and it will fly by unnoticed.

There are a wealth of activities and nights out that steer clear of any romantic links. From learning to dance like Beyonce with companies such as Seen on Screen Fitness, to Game of Thrones pub quizzes, catching a band live, or even giving something back to the community and volunteering.
