Reading- There's something quite intimate about snuggling up with a good book alongside your partner who's doing the same while you listen to the rain outside and play footsie.

Using technology- We are all guilty of it- playing on our phones, watching something on You Tube, checking bank balances on I pads- the secret is to make it into an activity you do together rather than it driving a wedge between you.

Planning your day- When the weekend arrives and you can have a lie in together and plan your day when you wake depending on the weather and your mood.

Watching TV- Why do this while sitting on the couch downstairs when you can do it horizontally and in pjs upstairs?

Catching up- Sometimes catching up as you both come through the door can be overwhelming when all you want to do is forget about the day and take some time out from work talk. Bedtime can be the ideal place once you're more relaxed and had chance to mull things over to get and give an update.

Talking through life's problems- Sometimes the closeness and comfort being in bed brings can give you both the courage to talk about your relationship, what you plan to do in your future together, your worries and any niggles you might have.

Planning holidays- Instead of reading separately you can flick though a holiday brochure together and find your next getaway that suits you both. A positive way to end the night.

Spending quality time together- Your bed is for you and your loved one- no-one else- so going to bed means couple's time. It's your joint space to just be with each other.

Relaxing with each other- When you come home from work, you might be preoccupied with putting on the evening meal, doing a bit of washing, looking at post or tidying to relax with each other. So this is the perfect time to say 'enough' to all of your jobs and just enjoy the peace and quiet.
