First of all- does this other person feel the same way in return? If not then maybe this says more about how you feel about your partner.
If you have feelings for someone else while you are with another person then it could be an indicator that your relationship needs work.
After so long, couples can become complacent and fresh blood can seem far too tempting if they inject some excitement and newness into your life. If you love your partner then maybe this has highlighted that you need to invest more time and effort with them. Whether it's more alone time, more time in the bedroom, finding something new to do together- whatever you feel is lacking- perhaps there is room for improvement.
Perhaps try this before resigning yourself to it being over then you can say hand on heart that you tried to save what you have with them. If things do not improve then that may be the time to talk to your partner about going your separate ways. It might be better if you wait until things are over with your partner before pursuing anything else if this other person feels the same way. This would make it less complicated at a time when feelings might be heightened anyway.
If you already feel that your relationship is over, then it might be fair to your partner if you don't do anything with this other person until you have agreed upon your future, as this might hurt them further.
