Nabil asks :

how can i get smooth shining skin which is free from acne marks n pimples at home ?

Yin replies

If it is mild acne, then scrubs are a good place to start, this will clean out your pores and remove any dead skin cells that can make your skin look dull, revealing the newer fresher looking ones underneath. You can buy these at most supermarkets and pharmacies.

Places like Boots also sell exfoliating sponges that you can use with a face wash that will do the same.

If you are used to wearing a lot of makeup, it can be a vicious cycle. If you wear it every day, this clogs up your pores and spreads any bacteria around your face, from the infected areas around the spots. This means that you will constantly re-infect the clear areas of your face where there are not spots and continue the cycle. If you just pop a bit of light moisturiser on your face and nothing else this will help it to cleanse itself of the makeup you have already put on your face. It may be difficult in the immediate future but you will thank yourself later when it has cleared up.

If your acne is bad, exfoliating can aggravate the problem, so gauge how bad it is first. If it is bad, then I would suggest going to your doctor who can prescribe creams that reduce the swelling of the spots or even a course of tablets that helps to do the same.

Using products with spot fighting ingredients like tee tree oil, is also good as they contain anti-bacterial qualities to reduce the redness and infection.

Avoid night creams these can clog up your pores, as the skin is most receptive to moisture in the night and will absorb it quicker as the body repairs itself.

Look at what you eat, the old mantra, ‘you are what you eat’, can apply to spots, if you eat  a lot of junk food you are not giving your body the defence that it needs to fight and heal your spots, whereas a healthy diet with all of the vitamins and minerals you need heals your body quicker.
