Will you be calling him up if he gains weight?

Christmas is fast approaching, and with the festive cheer comes the festice bulge, according to new research. And it seems men won't be passing on telling you you've gained weight either.

The findings revealed that more than a third of dieters are resigned to putting on a few pounds this joyful season, and more than 21% of the male gener are more than happy to pass a remark on it too.

Unlike the ladies who wait until their partner has added an additional stone in weight before making a less than subtle hint.

The startling findings, weight loss aid XLS-Medical Fat Binder also found:

  • 15% of males would only date someone slim
  • A fifth of both sexes find a beer belly or muffin top off putting
  • 1 in 12 men would comment on their partner’s weight as soon as they looked slightly different to normal

The research also revealed that while men are more forthright in their opinions, they are also more likely to embark on a diet with their partner to help them lose weight.

XLS-Medical Consultant Dietitian Helen Bond advises on how best to navigate the Christmas period without piling on the pounds: “The festive season is full of edible enticements that often prove hard to resist. From office chocolates to impromptu drinks and rich meals it can often seem like a struggle to avoid the almost inevitable expanding waistline. Aim to strike a balance with what you choose to eat and drink and don’t feel like you are saying no to yourself all the time – otherwise you are at risk of giving in completely.”

“There are lots of reasons to stay fit in winter, getting ready for the office party, squeezing into your little black dress and being ready for the Christmas and New Year celebrations,” adds Elise Lindsay, Fitness Advisor to XLS-Medical Fat Binder. “So instead of over indulging on party food, having a complete blow out and worrying about it after the festive season, why not embrace the weeks running up to Christmas so you look and feel amazing and simply do a little maintenance throughout the season to keep you on top of your game. Think about what will you be wearing over Christmas and concentrate your training on the areas of your body which are going to be on show. For example, your shoulders for a strapless dress or bingo wings and biceps if your dress is sleeveless. If your dress is short get working on those legs – extra squats before you go out can do no harm at all!”
