Do You Keep Fit For Your Partner?

Do You Keep Fit For Your Partner?

We’ve seen Miley Cyrus getting super fit to prepare for her wedding in which she will marry long-time boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, but should you stay in shape after the big day, or is it okay to slack a little?

Rachel Evans, owner of makeoveressex.com, says it’s important to stay in shape for each other when you’re in a relationship.

She says, “I never let myself go at all, I have treatments and work out 3 times week.

“It’s important to stay in shape and keep the body you had when you met each other. Some women change their style after having a baby and lose the look their husband or boyfriend fell for.

“I have a body ten years younger and was the oldest Grid Girl in pole motorsport last month. I compete with girls half my age and my man is proud of me.”

Slim Fast recently conducted a survey that found 44 per cent of people rely on their partner to motivate them to their goal weight, meaning partners have a huge influence on weight loss.

They also found that 37.8 per cent of people said that they lose weight for special occasions. This could mirror Miley, as many women could be losing weight for their wedding.

The age group that are most likely to lose weight are those in the 18-29 group, with almost 50 per cent of those surveyed falling into that category.

Could this mean that as we get older and settle down we’re caring less about our appearance?

This is out of the question for Rachel and partner Mike. She says that both of them work incredibly hard to maintain their bodies and fitness.

She says, “Mike also likes to keep in shape and he trains me in the gym. Our workouts are fun but very hard, very gruelling.

“We live together, work together and play together so it’s important that we keep ourselves in top shape at all times. We pay a big price for it but our motto is no pain, no gain.”

Obviously, there are obstacles. Children, jobs, and the general tolls that life brings upon our bodies, but are these just a number of excuses?

Rachel believes that nothing can and should stop you from staying in shape. She says, “I'm a mum to an 11 year old and busy juggling full time PA Insurance Brokers and even set up new business to help women keep their men.”

So if Rachel can do it, we all can, but the question is should we have to?
