The new raunchy rom-com, Sleeping With Other People, tells the story of Lainey (Alison Brie) and Jake (Jason Sudeikis), who form a strictly platonic friendship after realising they both tend to sabotage their relationships. They discover that it's not always easy to be best friends with someone you're also attracted to. We're of the opinion that in fact, your guy best friend could make the best boyfriend. Not everyone can make a male/female friendship work, but the ones that can, have the potential to create the best kind of relationship.

1) You're comfortable with him
No need to go through the awkward 'getting to know you' stage because you're already best friends. One of the hardest parts of dating is reaching that level of comfort, and it's a given that you're already there.
2) He knows all your secrets
Divulging secrets is scary but as your best friend, he already knows them. There aren't any skeletons hiding in either of your closets and as a result, your relationship is bound to be stronger.
3) He's probably seen you without make-up
You've probably lost track of how many times he's seen you without make-up. You don't have to be insecure around him and although it's nice to look your best, he'll be totally fine with the bare-faced you.
4) He puts up with your bad habits
It's expected that you have some pretty bad habits, and lucky for you, they obviously don't bother him if he's still around. He loves you enough to look past some of those and you probably overlook his.
5) You know each other's dating histories
You've been there for each other through all the crazy ex-girlfriends and jealous boyfriends. You've seen what's gone wrong in each other's relationships and can learn from it.
6) Binge-watching movies will always be an appropriate date night activity
Of course you should go out and enjoy a proper date night every once and a while, but there's nothing wrong with staying in and binge watching favourite TV shows and movies. You probably already have movie marathons, but once dating, you can add cuddling to the mix.
