The 32-year-old actor - who starred as Seamus Finnigan in the 'Harry Potter' film franchise - has announced the arrival of his and girlfriend Shannon McCaffrey's first child together, a little boy named Cooper Michael Murray, who they welcomed into the world on Saturday (02.01.21) and whom weighed in at 6lbs 10oz.

Devon revealed it was a "very long labour" and said there was "a scary few minutes at the end", but both mother and baby are "doing amazing now".

Alongside a picture of a congratulations card, a cupcake with a blue foot on top of it and a blurred out Cooper sleeping in the background, Devon captioned the Instagram post: "Yesterday 2/1/21 my life changed forever. Shannon delivered our beautiful little boy ‘Cooper Michael Murray’ weighing 6lbs 10oz. Both are doing amazing now after a very long labour and a scary few minutes at the end. It still hasn’t sunk in just yet that we have our very own little boy. I can’t wait to make the most amazing memories with Shannon and Cooper as we begin our little family. I’m so amazed by Shannon and she is now my Hero. I’m so proud of her for everything she has gone through. I can’t wait to have you both home. It’s so hard having to leave you both. I will love you both forever until my last breathe (sic)"

Several of Devon's 'Harry Potter' co-stars have congratulated the pair on their new arrival.

James Phelps (Fred Weasley) wrote: "Huge congratulations mate. Hope Cooper and Shannon are home soon."

While Luna Lovegood actress Evanna Lynch commented: "Yayyyy beautiful news!!!! Congratulations Devon and Shannon!!! (sic)"

The pair announced their pregnancy news back in July, with a photograph of their baby's ultrasound scan and a onesie embroidered with an image of an elephant.

Devon wrote on Instagram at the time: "Baby Murray - 14th of January 2021 (sic)"

In response to a comment of a friend, Devon revealed that he and Shannon are both delighted to be expecting their first child together, although they didn't know the sex of their baby at the time.

The actor subsequently admitted they were "happy, excited and nervous and can not wait until he/she are in our arms. (sic)"
