An unnamed Utah officer pulled the vehicle over and expected to find a drunk driver - but he was instead shocked to be greeted by the child.

He said: ''I hit my siren and the car did immediately pull over to the left. I approached the vehicle and I was expecting to find somebody who needed an ambulance or paramedics.

''And it was pretty clear when the window came down that it was a young, very underage driver.''

The boy tearfully explained that he had taken his mother's vehicle after she refused to buy a Lamborghini. He said that he planned to find a dealer in California and pay for the vehicle with his savings - a total of three dollars.

The boy's parents were called to the scene and reclaimed both their car and child, according to officials.
