Del Hall, from Cincinnati, lost 44 pounds in 46 days last year whilst giving up on solid food, and for 2020 he has extended his fast to 50 days in a bid for the ''all-time world record''.

Del claims that he wants to prove his ''sheer willpower'' with the challenge and admits he isn't as fearful as he was in 2019, as he knows he will survive the task.

The 44-year-old also feels that the closing days will be the hardest aspect of the task.

Hall said: ''I don't think that the extra days are going to be a struggle. The hardest part is the final few days.''

Del also urged those who want to try the challenge to ''set hard and fast rules''.

He added: ''If you're really going to be successful, you cannot cheat at all. Not even a quasi-cheat. Really stick to your guns.''
