Upon Reflection

Upon Reflection

1. Can you tell our redaers a bit about your new book Upon Reflection?

This is my first publication.  The story is based around Danny, Who uses his reflection to discover hidden questions of
. What if?
. Why?
. How?
He discovers over time the possibilities of an ego dying to break free to reak havock.  Although not very prominent there is a point of highlighting Epilepsy as a small sufferer I hope to make people aware.

2. Where did you inspiration come from for the novel?

Inspiration came from my true feelings towards my real father.  He left my mother, my little brother and myself when I was 8.  However letting me experience a pub, a bookies and a very bad tempered man. Thankfully I have not seen him since.

3.How did the charcaters evolve throughout the novel?

It all started after an arguement with my mother.  So after not getting my own way, I stormed off to my bedroom. In my room there is a mirror taking up most of the main wall.  Just standing there in front of it staring at myself thinking.  I have more respect for women, I will not become an image or reflection of my father.  I am and will be better than that.  From that point I got the laptop and started writing a mini memoir that over two years I added dangerous and unthinkable scenarios based around my father.

4. Why did you use the mirror as the focal point in the story?

Again it goes back to that arguement with my mother. I constantly use the mirror to adjust my ego/personality so that people around me in everyday life come to like me and respect me.  Teaching me that people are equal and are not to be walked over.

5. What is your background in writing?

I wrote a play in year ten English once. Besides that my background in writing is minable.  I wrote the story using myself as guidance.

6. Who are you main influences in your writing?

My parents as well as life experiences through the many people I have met through different jobs when I was a fitness instructor.  The main reason it got published is after the large push off my girlfriend Lisa.

7. Who do you love to read?

My favorite author in the last year or so would have to be L.J. Smith the writer behind The Vampire Diaries.

8. What plans do you have for future publications?

At the moment short stories for Anita Parmar and her website.  As for a next publication I believe it will be based round domestic violence and there are positive outcomes.  For example as a plot using the male as the victim not the bully.  Highlighting the fact we are equal sexes.

9. What advice could you give to aspiring writers?

I would have to say write from the heart, keep your eyes and ears open as anything is a potential opportunity.  Do not give up as there will be let downs.  Just carry on pushing you and your story.

10. What do you enjoy the most about writing?

I enjoy the freedom of expression.  Been allowed to escape into my imagination to expand on any feelings.
