New research shows that females are prolific readers and real ‘Page Turners’ while men drag behind as ‘Slow Worms’ who just can’t seem to get through a book.

Nearly half (48%) of women claim they are avid readers who can’t put books down, whizzing through many in a year.  While only a quarter (26%) of men keep up with this pace.  Twice as many men as women admit they never finish a book.

As advocates of the indulgent read and to celebrate the Galaxy® Irresistible Reads promotion during which Galaxy® are giving away a million books.  Galaxy ® chocolate has delved into the world of reading and has identified five reading personalities which reveal the different habits of men and women.

Over half (52%) of UK women rated reading as their favourite way to relax.  Surprisingly this beat a good shopping trip as best way to escape, which only 5% of women chose in the poll.

Men can’t seem to sit still for long enough to enjoy a good book, with only 29% choosing reading as their ultimate relaxation choice.  Women are keeping their indulgent reading me-time all to themselves.

Supposedly you can’t judge a book by its cover, yet, 1 in 5 women still choose books this way.  18% of women pick up snippets from magazines on their next indulgent read.

But the female grapevine is queen with 23% of women waiting for recommendations from friends on the next must have page turner.

The Galaxy® Irresistible Reads promotion launches on March 23rd and runs throughout the summer. Just pick up a promotional bar and head to www.galaxybookclub.co.uk to enter your code and see if you have won one of a million books.
