When I was in my mid 30’s, my life as an international DJ and record producer was turned upside down when I collapsed due to an incurable disease and later suffered from bankruptcy. I sunk into the depths of depression but forced myself to ‘remix’ my life through a series of positive actions and important life changes. At 50 years of age, I’m happy to say I’m now a Health and Happiness Coach, public speaker, multiple business owner and soon to be published author. My purpose in life is now to help others improve their lives. Here are my key life remix strategies that will change your life for the better.
1. Love yourself first
Love is total acceptance. It means welcoming every part of you without the fear of judgement from others. When you’re able to love yourself, you’ll be a happier and more positive person and therefore far more able to achieve your goals and live a fulfilled life. Remember that you (and the rest of the world) deserve the best version of you to be turning up. Totally accepting yourself is the start point.
2. Be grateful
Sometimes we can get so wrapped up in day to day life that we forget to take a step back and be grateful for all the things that we already have. It’s so important to see the good in everything, even if that feels difficult at first. Sometimes you may have to look a little bit harder for it, however I guarantee the positives will be there.
3. Set Goals
Find the things you like and do more of them. Start by focusing on your goals for the next 3 months, you can change a lot in your life in 90 days, trust me. Have fun with this, enjoy the process, then increase the time limit to 1, 3, 5 and 10 year goals. You’ll then have a long term, clear plan of how your life is going to develop the way you would like, the way you design it to be.
4. Visualise the perfect day
Think about your perfect day from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to sleep, and write it down. This could include things such as enjoying breakfast, making time for exercise, making money, family time, a good night’s sleep and so on - anything that adds value to your day. Then picture it, visualise it, feel it, hold onto it in your mind and you will create it, it will happen. Then, grow the goal into visualising the perfect year.
5. Create multiple sources of income
The majority of people in the UK rely solely on one job to pay for their lifestyle, but I promise you this is not the best option. For our long term security it is essential for us all to think about building multiple revenue streams so that the risk of having our income wiped out - should one source disappear - is reduced. Whether it’s a hobby that you turn into a small business, the opportunity to retrain in something you’ve always wanted to do as a side hustle or invest in assets that can bring you reliable revenue every month, take hold of the reins and future proof your own earning potential with passive income. And remember, it’s important to add value to every situation you find yourself in to leave others with the impression of increase - take in every lesson learnt, every positive moment and keep growing, applying that to your next project, pitch or business deal. You’ll finish the day feeling energised and ready to go again tomorrow.
