In a recent study conducted by nutritionist Fiona Hunter it was noted that peanuts contain over 4 X more protein than Ufit’s Chocolate Protein Shake drink, more fibre than popular cereal bar Eat Natural’s Almond and Apricot bars and contains less sugar than a handful of Ocean Spray Dried Cranberries.

According to Fiona Hunter, when needing an easy food fix to tide you over we should opt for nutrient dense snacks like peanuts. Here are some peanut facts that prove they’re the greatest snack to graze on throughout the day:

1. Peanuts are a great choice if you are following a low carb diet

Peanuts are low in carbs meaning they won’t cause unhealthy spikes in blood sugar levels

2. Peanuts are a source of the B vitamins, B1, B6, folate, niacin, biotin

B vitamins are important for release of energy from food. Just 30g of peanuts will provide a quarter of the recommended daily amount of niacin.

3. Peanuts are high in (good) fat

Despite its reputation, not all fat is bad. We need some fat in our diet and most of the fat in peanuts is the healthy unsaturated variety.

4. Peanuts are a tasty and nutrient rich snack

Peanuts can be part of a healthy balanced diet. It’s important to choose snacks which make a positive contribution to your diet.

5. Peanuts provide a combination of protein and fibre

Foods that provide good amounts of protein and fibre like peanuts have been shown to help you feel fuller for longer.

6. Peanuts are a great source of protein

Weight for weight peanuts contain more protein than any other nut.

7. Peanuts are high in fibre

Only 13% of men and 4% of women in the UK get enough fibre in their diet. Weight for weight peanuts contain twice as much fibre as crisps for example.

Picked at their prime and roasted until golden, KP Nuts are high in fibre and a source of protein, making them a perfect snack to help keep you energised throughout the day.
