Star Trek Into Darkness

Star Trek Into Darkness

Star Trek Into Darkness was already a movie of 2013 that I was excited about but once I saw the trailer I knew that we were in for a corker.

Yes JJ Abrams is back in the director's chair this summer for his second Star Trek movie.

He rebooted the franchise back in 2009 - the movie was a triumph and deserved more box office success than it actually achieved - but this new movie looks set to be bigger and ever better.

And we have some new images from the movie for you to check out:

Chris Pine is back as the rather cocky Captain of the Enterprise James T. Kirk while Zachary Quinto is also returning as Spock.

Pine and Quinto made a great team 2009 and it looks like we are going to see their character's relationship develop even further with this new instalment.

Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Bruce Greenwood and John Cho are all also reprising their roles while there are a couple of new faces on the cast list.

The most notable is Benedict Cumberbatch as he takes on the role of John Harrison.

Now for anyone who never followed Star Trek this is a character that never featured in the franchise so many believe that his is a red herring for the character he is really set to play.

Ever since Cumberbatch was cast he has been linked to the role of Khan despite both the actor and director denying this to be true... we will have to wait and see.

Alice Eve is also a new addition as she is set to play Dr. Carol Marcus.

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organisation has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one-man weapon of mass destruction.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Summer 2013 looks set to be fantastic if you are a fan of blockbuster movies and Star Trek Into Darkness is one of the movies that is not to be missed.

Star Trek Into Darkness is released 17th May
