Emily Watson has revealed that she struggled with her fear of horses on the set of her new movie War Horse.

The actress returns to the big screen in the new year as she teams up with Steven Spielberg to bring the Michael Morpurgo and stage show to the big screen.

But the movie brought her face to face with one of her biggest fears.

Speaking to the Press Association the actress said: "I'm not very good at animals generally.

"I like domestic animals but big, large ones that might hurt me - I'm a bit of a wimp."

War Horse follows the relationship between a young boy and his horse - Watson play's Albert's mother in the movie.

The movie is the first since she starred in Oranges and Sunshine bit she has a string o movies in the pipeline.

She is currently filming Little Boy and she is also set to appear in Anna Karenina, which is directed by Joe Wright.

War Horse is released 13th January
