Simon Pegg

Simon Pegg says he has not been approached by J.J. Abrams to appear in the new Star Wars film.

The Star Trek director is set to be at the helm for the seventh film in the Star Wars franchise.

And while Pegg has worked with the director on three movies already he says links to the new Star Wars film are not true.

Speaking to Digital Spy the actor said: "I've spoken to him and congratulated him but it's not written so there's no casting or anything. [Me having a role] just hasn't come up."

We are going to see Pegg and Abrams reunite this summer for Star Trek Into Darkness - the film in the new rebooted franchise.

Pegg will reprise the role of Scotty while Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana will also be returning.

It is the first film since Abrams took over the series back in 2009 - he will be back in the director's chair for this second instalment.

We will also be seeing Pegg return to comedy this summer as he teams up with Nick Frost and Edgar Wright for The World's End.

Star Trek Into Darkness is released 17th May.
