This year (2022) has been great for cinema, with both original movies and sequels coming to the big screen. One highly-anticipated sequel has now revealed when fans can bring the story home for themselves.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 raced past its predecessor at the box office and now, it's been announced when it will be available on streaming, DVD and Blu-ray.
The film follows Sonic (Ben Schwartz) as he’s living the life he always dreamed of; he has a house, a dog friend, and a family consisting of Tom (James Marsden) and his wife Maddie (Tika Sumpter).
Sonic still wants to prove he can be a hero, and it seems he will get his chance...
As the trio have put their troubles with Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) behind, he comes back to Earth with a new friend in tow, Knuckles the Echidna (Idris Elba). Now, Dr. Robotnik, aka Eggman, is back, and after the Master Emerald.
Sonic makes it his mission to stop Eggman and Knuckles, and thankfully he isn’t alone; Tails (Colleen O'Shaughnessey) has come to help Sonic defeat Eggman before the Emerald falls into his evil hands.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is currently the fifth highest-grossing video game film ever, coming behind Warcraft, Detective Pikachu, Rampage, and fellow 2022 release, Uncharted.
The film easily surpassed Sonic the Hedgehog (2020), and crossed the $375 million mark after only one month in cinemas (U.S. stats).
Now, almost two months after the feature’s cinematic release, Paramount has revealed both the streaming and home release dates for the movie. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 became available on Paramount+ just yesterday (May 24th, 2022), as well as on other digital platforms.
The film will be on 4K Ultra-HD, Blu-ray and DVD on August 9th, 2022. The physical copies of the movie include almost a full hour of bonus content, as well as an animated short titled Sonic Home Drone, featuring not only Sonic and Tails, but Knuckles, too.
Sonic’s adventure doesn’t end here, though. In a post-credit scene for the movie, we’re introduced to Shadow, a dark version of the blue hero, which will be seen in the film series’ third instalment.
There is also a Knuckles spinoff slated for 2023, so there’s lots of content to keep an eye out for!
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is currently streaming on Paramount+, and will be on 4K Ultra-HD, Blu-ray and DVD on August 9th, 2022.
