Andrea Corr Christmas Songs

Irish star Andrea Corr is embracing the festive season with the surprise release of a selection of Christmas songs on an EP that has been released today (Nov 25).

They include Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, O Holy Night and In The Bleak Mid-Winter.

The EP also features an original song called Begin Again. It’s written by Andrea with more than a touch of the Corrs classic style.

The Corrs’ frontwoman reveals that the idea for a Christmas EP came about after she visited Our Lady’s Hospice in Dublin’s Harold’s Cross last year, and sang a selection of her personal seasonal favourites.

“It was an incredibly moving experience that inspired me to record the songs this year,” Andrea reveals.

The four beautiful, moving songs featured on Andrea Corr Christmas Songs also have a special place in her childhood.

“These are songs that I grew up with,” she says. “My father played O Holy Night in our church every Christmas Eve when we were kids. We had been planning this record since my visit to the hospice last year—and then the world changed, and the lyrics took on a whole new and special meaning. Christmas is always an emotional time, this year more than ever.”

It took a lot of endeavour in this pandemic to find a male voice choir  who could all sing together in the same venue for the recordings, but this was eventually discovered in Perth, Australia, with the lovely Giovanni Consort Choir.

Andrea Corr Christmas Songs is set to be a big hit with fans of The Corrs around the globe this festive season.

The 46-year-old musician topped the charts with her siblings - Sharon, Caroline and Jim - in their band The Corrs over 20 years ago but Andrea admitted she found it hard to deal with their widespread popularity. Andrea told The Guardian newspaper: "It made me more self-conscious and shy. You always want it to last, but I don't think we could have taken the intensity. Sometimes I feel like I'm watching somebody that isn't me anymore, which it isn't, I suppose. We lived and breathed that life. Now I live and breathe another life.".. to read more click HERE
