The 44-year-old comedienne was arrested in November 2023 for falling asleep at the wheel and subsequently charged with driving under the influence but has insisted that she simply "took a nap" behind the wheel and that she was not out of control in any other sense.

Speaking on the 'Making Space with Hoda Kotb' podcast, she said: "Every time, I try to have fun, no matter what. You should have seen when I got arrested. I wish they could have filmed that whole thing. They probably did.

"But them police had a good time. I felt like, I took a nap. I blew and it was a .03, and I went home, and then I found out how famous I really am.

"I don’t know what people think. I don’t know what they thought. I’m not in their brains. From what I saw on the internet, people were saying, 'Ah, she’s spiraling out. This is it. Her career is over. She’s done.'

"And then my friends were just like, 'Girl, your a** was asleep, wasn’t you. "

The 'Girls Trip' star has since given up drinking alcohol but admitted that her decision to go sober had already been made by the time the incident occurred.

She said: "I had already decided. I was barely drinking as it was before then, because every day I would wake up, my body would hurt after I drink. Even after one drink, my body would hurt!"

Meanwhile, Tiffany split from rapper Common, 52, in 2021 after just over a year of dating and now that he has struck up a relationship with former 'American Idol' winner Jennifer Hudson, 42, she has sent them their blessing even though she still thinks it was "weird" how their time together came to an end.

She said: "I love Jennifer! I hope they're having fun. I hope they’re having fun. Girl, please! That was a great relationship. I had fun!"
