Rachel Weisz is to take the role of Johnny Depp's character's wife in the remake of 1934 thriller The Thin Man. The original role was played by Myrna Loy and the British actress is in talks with the films director, Rob Marshall, and Johnny Depp who will also star in the film. Marshall and Depp are said to have hand picked Weisz as their top choice for the role of the leading lady. Depp will play the role of Nick Charles, originally played by William Powell, and Weisz will play his wife, Nora. The film will follow the pair as they become an unlikely crime solving team. Both stars have other projects for 2011, Depp is onboard with a movie adaptation of The Lone Ranger in which he will play Tonto and Weisz is in negatiations to join Jeremy Renner in the new Jason Bourne film.
