Technology advances at a rapid pace, and Turkey is a country in which medical professionals are always concerned about innovation and improvements to pre-existing methods. This holds true not only for doctors who perform major surgeries, but also those who do cosmetic work such as hair transplants.

Hair Transplant Surgery

Hair Transplant Surgery

Hair transplant Turkey relies on an assortment of technologies including computer technology, various punches and blades for making incisions, and centrifuges.

The far reaches of the internet and the fact that so many people around the world have easy access via computer and even smart phone technology, means that medical tourists can access hair clinic websites. It is then easy for potential patients to contact and receive consultations.

Often, such sites also provide information such as patient reviews, informative blogs related to hair transplantation, and also information on what being a medical tourist means. In other words, it helps patients who are suffering from thinning hair or alopecia.

The most common and popular hair transplant surgery is the Follicular Unit Transplantation method. Various tools are used in such surgery; for starters, the doctors need to know how dense your hair is. This is achieved using a hair densitometer, which is an instrument that uses digital images to help establish how dense a person’s hair is. This is important in helping establish how many follicles should be transplanted in order to get the desired look that the patient wants.

Punches and blades

Manual punches are most often used to extract hair from the donor site. These punches contain blades that can be made of either steel or, in the case of the sapphire FUE procedure, they are made of sapphire. The punches are designed to only remove a very small portion of tissue up to about 4 mm in size, and the idea is to cut out one follicular unit at a time. Each one of these follicular units can contain up to about four hair follicles.

The sapphire blade does have a few advantages over a conventional steel blade. It is helpful for using on patients who have metal allergies. Research also suggests that the different shape of the blade can be beneficial in enabling more precise incisions to be made and it has fewer vibrations than a steel blade.

Centrifuges

Centrifuges are instruments that are used to separate particles based on size or density. They are used in hair transplant clinics that offer plasma-rich platelet therapy, PRP. The PRP is used to help stimulate hair growth and can be used either as a treatment on its own, or often used along with hair transplant surgery to help activate the growth of the transplanted hair follicles.

The way it works is that some of your blood is extracted and placed in a vial in the centrifuge. The sample is then spun so that the blood platelets can be collected and concentrated. The enriched blood, with the extra platelets and growth factors, is then re-injected into your scalp to promote hair growth.

There are likely to be even more innovations and technological advancements to help hair transplant patients in the future
