2006 was one of Ben Taylor’s most successful years to date - he toured Europe with Tracy Chapman, wowed London audiences with his stripped-down showcases and released the critically acclaimed album ‘Another Run Around The Sun’ which was named Radio 2’s LP of the Week. Having been special guest to James Morrison last year, this year saw him play 12 dates across the country in his first headline UK tour. Including two nights at London’s Bar Academy. The son of James Taylor and Carly Simon, Ben’s life was always centered around music and, as his new material shows, it continues to be his forte. On March 12th he releases the new single ‘Nothing I Can Do’ featuring a stunning interpretation of Portishead’s stunning track ‘Glory Box’.Influenced by a variety of artists such as Paul McCartney, Donovan and Cat Stevens, his sound blends stark originality with ambling folk, rock and soul. Although his lineage may garner attention, it’s only Ben himself who can deliver his sound. “The main thing connections like that does is actually very positive. It turns people’s heads and gets you attention, but you really need to be prepared with something worth listening too. Right now, I feel ready.” Ben Taylor
