If you are not on TikTok then you have some serious will power as I think most of the population especially over lockdown have been bitten by the TikTok bug. However as addictive as it is it does show some great tips and tricks for cleaning, makeup, organising and fashion trends. I have often got lost watching the PLT, ASOS or Missguided haul, listing all the things I definitely will buy at some point, however that never seems to happen as it can be overwhelming at what trends will be in fashion throughout the summer. I have compiled 6 of the most common fashion trends I have seen on TikTok for this summer so you can be ahead of the game and be hot girl summer ready.

Feathers

Go big or go home this year and what better way to do that than adding some feathers to your wardrobe. I’m not talking about a big feather boa, opt for dresses that have been spices up with a feather trim. This can be a minimal dress that has a feather detail at the top, I would suggest choosing a dress with matching colour feathers to accentuate your curves. If dresses are not your thing then you can go for a feathered top, these are perfect for when you have no idea what to wear and work best with the jeans and a nice top combo. Whether you’re going out with friends or you’re just updating your Instagram pictures then you need to make feathers your go to.

Matching Sets

Even if you have not been glued to TikTok, matching sets are everywhere, whether that is matching gym sets, midi skirt coords or an epic trouser set you need at least one of these in your wardrobe. They are the perfect inbetween outfit that can be glammed up for a night out. For a matching short set try a seamless style that can be dressed down with trainers and a cropped jacket, but when the sun sets it can be jazzed up with a pair of wrap around heels and an oversized blazer. If shorts are not your thing then go for a midi skirt set, this is another style that can be dressed down with sandals and a denim jacket draped on the shoulders, it can also be dressed up with a pair of strappy heels, gold jewellery and a chain strap bag. The options are endless and can be transformed again and again.

Colourful Shirts

Spring and summer will see a lot of bright colour combinations, the more the better just make sure to keep the styles plain so all the focus is on the colours. I would recommend choosing royal blues, emerald greens and hot pinks all of which can be styled together. They are the ultimate colour combos. Expand your wardrobe with these vibrant shirts, i would recommend opting for the oversized style as this can be styled in many different ways such as a cropped shirt or even a dress. TikTok creators have amazing ways of styling shirts, so you could get away with wearing the same shirt over and over again with the creative ways it can be styled. One way is to tuck the collar of the shirt in and pull it down below the shoulders to create an off the shoulder look that can be paired with a skirt or jeans.

Retro Sunnies

There are so many different styles of sunglasses it can be hard to choose which style will suit the best. The most popular especially on TikTok are retro 80/90/00s sunglasses, they fit perfectly with the Y2K trend. I would recommend having a pair of oversized rectangle sunglasses in your collection as they’ll have you looking like the main character in every situation. For those of you who have upcoming festivals and raves then thin rectangles or circular glasses are the way to go. They complement any festival fit.

Cutouts galore

When the sun is shining what better excuse than to show off your summer bod, cutouts have slowly become the in thing this year and with summer fast approaching you can expect to see them even more. This can be done in extreme and subtle ways so there is something for everybody. If you are feeling brave then go for an extreme high cut bodysuit which complements the figure as it accentuates the waist, pair this with some ripped denim shorts and chunky sliders for the perfect day at the beer garden fit. If you want to go for a more modest look then opt for a midi dress with small cutouts on the sleeves, pair this with heeled sandals and a statement bag for a look that can go from day to night.
