2 Guns

2 Guns

There are some great adaptations of the horizon this year and one of ones that I am particularly excited about is 2 Guns, which sees Steven Grant’s graphic novel made into a movie.

The genres of action, crime and drama are all rolled into one with this movie as Baltasar Kormakur returns to the director’s chair.

But what is so exciting about this movie is it sees Oscar winner Denzel Washington team up with Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg for the very first time.

And you can see the pair of them in action in this great trailer:

2 Guns marks a second collaboration between Wahlberg and director Kormakur after they worked together on Contraband.

It has already been a busy year for Wahlberg with the release of Broken City while Pain & Gain and Lone Survivor are both on the horizon for the actor.

As for Washington he has picked up a Best Actor Oscar nomination in 2013 for his performance in Flight.

A great support cast has been assembled around Washington and Wahlberg as James Marsden, Paul Patton, Bill Paxton and Edward James Olmos are all on board the movie.

For the past 12 months, DEA agent Bobby Trench (Washington) and U.S. naval intelligence officer Marcus Stigman (Wahlberg) have been reluctantly attached at the hip.

Working undercover as members of a narcotics syndicate, each man distrusts his partner as much as the criminals they have both been tasked to take down.

When their attempt to infiltrate a Mexican drug cartel and recover millions goes haywire, Trench and Stigman are suddenly disavowed by their superiors.

Now that everyone wants them in jail or in the ground, the only person they can count on is the other.
Unfortunately for their pursuers, when good guys spend years pretending to be bad, they pick up a few tricks along the way.

Both Walberg and Washington are no strangers to this genre of movie and together it looks like they are going to kick some ass in what promises to be an exciting ride.

2 Guns is released 16th August.
