Benedict Cumberbatch

Benedict Cumberbatch has described his Star Trek experience as 'amazing'.

The British actor has joined the J.J. Abrams directed sequel in an as yet undisclosed role - however he is set to play the bad guy.

Filming on the movie has now wrapped and it seems that Cumberbatch has had a great time.

Speaking to BBC News the actor said: "[Star Trek was] amazing. One of the best four months of my life. It was just solid extraordinary fun from beginning to end.

"JJ Abrams is a god. And the rest of the cast and what we were asked to do in the film is blindingly brilliant.

"I adore them all. It was a huge roller-coaster adventure and I can't wait for the world to see the film. I can't tell you anything about it, even what part I am playing."

Abrams is back in the director's chair for the sequel while Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana and Simon Pegg are all reprising their roles.

The re-booted Star Trek series was launched back in 2009 and there has been talk of a sequel ever since but Abrams has been cautious not to rush the project.

As for Cumberbatch is has already been a busy year as he has been working on Peter Jackson's adaptation of The Hobbit.
