Tom Hardy has revealed that he had concerns about taking on the character of Bane in The Dark Knight Rises as fans are so fond of the character.
Hardy reunites with his Inception filmmaker Christopher Nolan for the third Batman movie - which sees Christian Bale return to the role of Bruce Wayne.
However the actor expects that criticism could come his way if he does not depict the character in a way that fans expect.
Speaking to CineMovie the actor said: "So many people love him. And when you step into that role - you are going to fail. And be judged."
Filming on the movie is now well underway as Joseph Gordon Levitt and Anne Hathaway are also new faces on the cast list.
But before we see Hardy as Bane he has a very busy September with the release of two new movies - Warrior and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
The Dark Knight Rises is released 20th July 2012.
