The huge football game is often used to promote new movies during the ad breaks and this year's clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers was no exception - with viewers being given a first look at the new movie version of hit stage show starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.

In the trailer, Ariana was seen in costume as Glinda the Good Witch alongside Cynthia as Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West. The film has been made in two parts - with the first being released this year and the second slated for 2025 - and is prequel to the events of 'The Wizard of Oz'.

The night's other big trailer showed the return of Ryan Reynolds' superhero Deadpool alongside Hugh Jackman’s X-Men character Wolverine.

In the trailer, Deadpool was shown being kidnapped and transported to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) declaring: "Your little cinematic universe is about to change forever. I'm the Messiah. I am Marvel Jesus."

It ends with the character facing off with Wolverine, whose shadow is the only part of him seen. 'Deadpool and Wolverine' is due for release in July.

Other film trailers shown during the game included first looks at new disaster movie 'Twisters' - a follow-up to classic 1996 movie 'Twister' set for release in July - as well as the latest 'Planet of the Apes' movie - 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes', which is due out in May.
