Reg King

Reg King , the frontman of cult 1960s band The Action, has died. He was 65 and lost his battle with cancer last week.

King co-founded The Action in 1963 and after a handful of hits, the band was signed to Parlophone by Beatles producer George Martin. Their hits included covers of Land of a Thousand Dances and I'll Keep on Holding On.

King left the band in 1968, but reteamed with his bandmates in 1970 for a self-titled solo album. The Action reunited in 2000. King's final performance took place at 2004's Modstock festival.

Paul Weller and Phil Collins were among King's biggest fans.
