The British Media are being criticised for being ‘obsessed’ with Meghan Markle’s baby shower. Which, in fairness, ‘obsessed’ is probably the perfect word, and we’re no exception.

The press yet again hounded the Duchess of Sussex as she went on her short transatlantic trip to meet with friends in the Big Apple.

The occasion? Of course, her baby shower.

Some publications chose to accuse the Duchess of breaking protocol by having a baby shower, but we prefer to see it as uniting cultures from across the sea.

Although it isn’t traditionally a done thing to have a royal baby shower, we take no issue with the Duchess embracing her native culture and adding a modern pop to her Princess pregnancy.

Like many others, when it was revealed that the hotel Meghan had been staying in was lavish NYC, The Mark Hotel, we had to have a snoop online and see what the fuss was all about.

So here’s what we found out about the extraordinary accomodation fit for a Princess.

The luxurious retreat was designed by the legendary Jacques Grange, and prices begin at $695 a night for a Queen room, to $75,000 a night in the penthouse.

Here is your second peek into The Mark Penthouse.

It’s fair to say this hotel is very exclusive and very flash. The ravishing grand penthouse is the largest hotel penthouse suite in the whole of the USA, and it’s rooftop terrace overlooks Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and beyond.

So you get quite a good view in this deal, too.

Meghan was joined by her close friends for the shower, including Serena Williams, Amal Clooney, and Gayle King. They engaged in activities such as flower arranging, which it was later revealed were donated to homeless shelters and hospices.

The hotel was built in 1927, and underwent a major renovation between 2006 and 2009. The iconic Upper East Side building is a popular spot for locals thanks to its restaurant and salon, and celebrities frequently pop in before the Met Ball.

So for such an expensive stay, you’d expect to be amongst some of the biggest stars in the world. And if Meghan Markle is an example to go by, of course, you would be correct in thinking so.

The lavish hotel, tucked away on 77th Street between Madison and Fifth Avenues, has been visited by the likes of Kendall Jenner, Anna Wintour, Katie Holmes, Marc Jacobs, Selena Gomez, Oprah, the Beckhams and Lily Aldridge, to name just a few.

It really is the most V.I.P, V.I.P can possibly be.

We certainly know where we will be staying if we ever win the lottery...
