The streaming platform has recently announced that they will be working with actor Idris Elba (Sonic the Hedgehog 2, The Suicide Squad) on an all-new thriller series titled Hijack

Elba will, as well as starring in the project, serve as executive producer. This collaboration marks the first project to come from Elba’s first-look deal with the platform and his Green Door Pictures.

Hijack will be told in real time, in that each episode (of which there are seven) represents a real hour within the series.

It will follow the journey of a plane that has been hijacked as it heads towards London over a seven-hour flight. Authorities on the ground are lost for what to do, and scramble as they attempt to find answers to this deadly situation.

Elba stars as Sam Nelson, a successful negotiator, though not for the police but in the business world, who must stand up and battle both nerves and fear and trade them for courage, as he tries to save the lives of the passengers.

However, Nelson’s high-risk plan could be his undoing, and could even make matter worse for everyone involved.

Hijack is written by George Kay (Lupin, Criminal) and will be directed by Jim Field Smith (Criminal, The Wrong Mans), who will both also serve as executive producers alongside Elba, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta and Kris Thykier.

While there is no trailer for Hijack yet, nor is there any first-look images, it seems to be a clever, intriguing and thrilling series in which Elba will surely take on the lead role with style.

Despite no images or trailer as of yet, Hijack seems like a brilliant premise for a show.

Having it set in real time is such a great idea, much like 24, and will definitely make for exciting TV. Plus, Elba is a skilled actor, and it will be brilliant to see him in yet another thrilling show.
