Created and written by The Full Monty's original screenwriter Simon Beaufoy, alongside producer Uberto Pasolini, comes an eight-episode limited series, developed by Searchlight Television and FX; co-commissioned by Disney+ and FX for Hulu in the United States.

This UK original TV series will premiere on Disney+ globally, aside from Latin America where it will be on Star+ and, the United States where it will be on Hulu.

Almost 25 years on from the release of the BAFTA-winning film, the series will follow the iconic band of brothers as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield and society's crumbling public systems, such as healthcare, education and the employment sectors.

Bringing humour to such dark topics will of course be central, as the series explores the brighter, more humane way forward where adversity can be trumped by communal effort.

Fan-favourite stars returning include Robert Carlyle as Gaz, Mark Addy as Dave, Lesley Sharp as Jean, Hugo Speer as Guy, Paul Barber as Horse, Steve Huison as Lomper, Wim Snape as Nathan and Tom Wilkinson as Gerald.

A new cast of faces, making up the children and grandchildren of these beloved characters, will also be debuting throughout the series.

Creator, writer and executive producer, Simon Beaufoy, comments: "We're chuffed to bits to get all the Monty Men back together again - now with a chaotic entourage of children, grandchildren, pets and assorted hangers-on - to see what life in Sheffield is like 25 years on.”

Of all the movies I thought would be brought back and adapted into a television series, The Full Monty was definitely not on my list!

In saying that however, I do think it will be a genius stroke from the original team behind the much-loved movie; especially with them bringing back all of the famous faces that helped make the film such a success.

I’m definitely intrigued to see what they do with the series, and I think it’s going to be interesting to watch as they navigate family life in the modern world, two-and-a-half decades on.

While we wait for more news on the series, the original movie The Full Monty is available to stream now on Disney+ in the UK.
