An expert thinks aliens are too far away for humans to find

Dr. Malcolm Schofield is convinced that extraterrestrials exist but thinks that the universe is so vast that it has prevented human beings from finding any evidence of alien life.

Dr. Schofield - a lecturer in psychology at the University of Derby - told the Daily Star newspaper: "That they don't exist would imply that we are the first intelligent life form out there; this, to me, is unlikely. Or they are all dead; this is the idea that every civilisation eventually destroys itself, and the chance of two civilisations overlapping are remote. Also, not very likely.

"That they are too far away seems to be the most likely candidate, given the sheer number of planets, but given the nature of space and time, this encompasses the other two."

Dr. Schofield added that humans still have a long time to wait until a breakthrough alien discovery is made.

He said: "It appears that the odds are against us having an encounter with intelligent life from another planet in our lifetimes."
