Dave Rothstein has built the wintery sculpture outside his home in Massachusetts, which he's titled 'Winter Solstice Snow Lantern - An Ode To Mother Nature'.

The hexagonal artwork consists of bricks of snow arranged in a tower with a light inside making it glow.

Rothstein explained that the public are more than welcome to come and view his piece, and hopes it inspires others to get creative with snow.

He told WWLP-TV: "I've been sculpting snow for 20 years but my main passion is introducing the winter arts to other people and getting people excited about winter and playing in their yards."

Rothstein revealed that he made his sculpture hexagonal as it is "the most common pattern found in nature".

He explained: "If you look closely you will find them not only in beehives, but on turtle shells, bubbles, fish scales, snake skin, insect eyes, basalt columns and gems and more."
