According to news outlets, a motorist called Bertie County alerted 911 when he saw the animal hanging off of the truck on the U.S. Route 17.

The greedy bear climbed into the trash truck during a stop and became stuck after the drive secured the netting the stops garbage from blowing out of the vehicle.

Sheriff John Holley says a deputy stopped the truck just outside of Windsor.

The driver was unaware that he was carrying the naughty stowaway and pulled back the net.

The bear then ran away quickly and the truck continued on its journey.
