The cute cartoon - which is shown in 180 territories including the US - follows the life of the titular animal and her family in a fictional town, and it appears kids have had their accent influenced by episodes of the popular series.

Mothers and fathers have claimed on Twitter that their offspring are picking up an accent from watching it.

One parent tweeted: ''My youngest son has recently become obsessed with Peppa Pig and has even adopted a fake British accent. Confession: So have I. Good night! Snort snort!''

Another wrote: ''My four-year baby girl loves watching peppa pig & I have noticed her accent & grammar is extraordinary. Last night I tucked her to sleep & she looks at me & says, 'daddy, can you snuggle me' I was like 'what did you say baby girl?' I don't remember the last time I used that word.''
